What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is a skin rejuvenation treatment that uses tiny needles to puncture the skin in order to stimulate collagen production. The treatment involves a specialized device that uses tiny needles to create microscopic punctures in the top layer of the skin. This process triggers the body’s natural healing process, which leads to increased collagen production and improved skin texture and tone.
The device used for microneedling can range from a small, handheld roller to a larger device with a motorized head. Regardless of the device used, microneedling is a safe and effective way to improve the overall look and feel of your skin.
Benefits of Microneedling
The benefits of microneedling are numerous. First and foremost, microneedling stimulates collagen production, which is essential for healthy, youthful skin. The increased collagen production helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as acne scars and other types of scarring.
Microneedling can also be used to treat pigmentation issues, such as sun damage, age spots, and melasma. The tiny needles also help to open up the pores, which can help to reduce excess oil production and minimize breakouts.
In addition to these cosmetic benefits, microneedling can also help to improve the overall tone and texture of the skin. The increased blood flow that the treatment stimulates can help to plump up the skin and reduce the appearance of pores.
Miconeedling Considerations
Skin 1st and Botox/Filler 2nd. Do not perform microneedling within 2 weeks of a Botox treatment. (treatment before this period may affect the distribution of the Botox beyond the injection site.)
• Do not have IPL, Laser, Fraxel, etc. for (4) weeks after for best results.
• Micro-needling may trigger a cold sore response in some patients.
• A prophylaxis medication should be recommended to those who are prone to outbreaks. Valtrex or other prescribed medication should be started 2 days before treatment.
• If there is any skin sensitivity or irritation, treatment is not recommended.
